Ancient Africa is still somewhat of a mystery to historians, archaeologists, and anthropologists, as written records weren't kept as early as other civilizations. Oral tradition was the means by which history was preserved in many cultures, including the Axumite Kingdom. However, with the introduction of Christianity came the need for the language of Ge'ez. It was formed as a result of the South Arabian emigrants and Kushites, who intermarried, creating a new and unique culture. The Axumites now had fresh uses for their artistic skill, a purpose in creating a written language, and a new understanding of religion and the government.
This project is historically significant because it assesses the impact of the first official Christian sate, as well as how the introduction of Christianity was a turning point in the kingdom of Axum.
